The Community Voice MPP Column / August 9, 2018
Since the June 7 election I have been very busy staffing up my constituency office to serve you and meet your Ontario government needs.
My stand is more than happy to help you with any provincial inquiries related to your: health card, drivers license, Ontario photo card, security license inquiries, birth certificate issues, name changes, death certificate, marriage certificate issues, birthday/congratulatory certificates and anything else that we can help you with.
Four athletes from our riding are currently competing at the 2018 Special Olympics Canada National Summer Games in Antigonish, Nova Scotia: Jack Fan, swimming: Katie Xu, swimming: Greg Rorwick, basketball: and Paul Rorwick: basketball. I would like to congratulate them on earning a spot on Team Ontario, the biggest team at the games with 260 athletes. Good luck at the games!
As your MPP, I intend to work hard on behalf of my constituents and all of Ontarians to accomplish the mandate the new government has promised to fulfill.
On July 23, I stood in the Legislative Assembly of Ontario for my inaugural speech - which contained the key theme of gratitude. I touched on respecting tax payers' dollars and the need to treat others with respect... "Elected representatives would strive to be diligent, respectful and trustworthy. We should consider how our behaviour inside and outside this chamber reflects on our credibility as politicians. As leaders not only in government but in society, I believe we must walk the talk... I implore members here to respect the dignity of the individual. In the political arena, attack and issue and oppose an idea strenuously, but consider how personal attacks on others affect your own self-respect. We cam strike for a higher level of decorum and we would all be better for it."
I praised the visionary Bill Teron, often referred to as the "Father of Kanata" for his urban-suburban community concept, the vibrant high-tech section in Kanata North and the importance of the many agricultural communities in our riding.
I also had the chance to invite all Ontarians to the 155th Carp Fair, called "the best little fair in Canada" taking place from Sept. 20 to 23.
We campaigned on a bold platform to address the many pressing needs of Ontarians, and we have already begun to implement promised changes and improvements. I look forward to serving the residents of Kanata-Carleton in my tenure as your MPP and welcome your inquiries, suggestions and support.
I hope to see you over the coming months, and if you have any questions, comments or concerns I invite you to contact my constituency office staff.
