Shop Local

Through the holiday season please consider shopping locally, eating in local restaurants, and staying in Kanata and West Carleton establishments when planning your entertainment. Also, let’s purchase from our local businesses before buying that gift on-line.

Across Ontario, small business accounts for 98% of all businesses. There are over 400,000 small businesses that each employ fewer than 100 people -- many locally owned. So, it is important to support our neighbourhood businesses because they make our community more prosperous and our local economy stronger.

Please participate in my “Shop Local” campaign and share the social media posts to raise awareness and encourage everyone to buy from our local businesses.

Supporting Our High Tech & Business

During November I updated constituents about the progress being made on “Kanata-Carleton’s High Tech and Business Initiative.” We live in a very competitive world and it will take a collaborative effort by private sector, government and local residents pulling together to tackle challenges and bring about prosperity for a community. This initiative provides a framework for collaboration to advance the interests of our local businesses and high tech sector. Read more about this initiative on my MPP website.

Please Give Through The Holiday Season

Each week I highlight local volunteer groups on my website, in social media, and at meetings and events. Currently, I am profiling community groups who are supporting those less fortunate in our community. These are charities who are providing food for the hungry, shelter for the homeless, warm clothes and gifts for children. For a list of community groups who you can donate to – or volunteer with – check the volunteer initiative on my website. This holiday season please consider giving to charities in our community.

Merry Christmas and A Happy and Healthy 2020

This month is a very special time of year – a time for giving, sharing, and coming together in our community. We break from our daily routines and find time to be with family, friends and neighbours. I believe that with charity, kindness, and generousity demonstrated each December, we bring out the best in ourselves and in our community. So, enjoy these times we have together. Embrace each moment for the humanity and joy it offers. Merry Christmas to all.

You’re invited to my MPP New Year’s Levee on Saturday, January 4 from 1 - 3 p.m. at the Kanata Legion Branch #638, 70 Hines Road.  Join me to celebrate to go things to come in 2020!
